On October 29, 2005 coach Ernest McNealy, Sr. who was a teacher, basketball and track coach for over 40 years at Mission High School will be honored with the unveiling of the bronze plaque that will be installed on the MHS school site in the boys gymnasium.
After his death in 1999 a petition was started to have the SFUSD school board approve to have the boys gymnasium renamed in his honor. On September 27, 2003 during another alumni reunion Analosa McNealy (his wife) along with his children were presented a plaque to honor her husband for his dedication and commitment to the school and the children he taught and coached. On October 13, 2003 it was approved by the board of education and the boy's gymnasium was officially named the Ernest "Mac" McNealy, Sr. Gymnasium.
Once the gym renovations are completed hopefully in the fall of 2006 there will be an official grand opening and alumni basketball game to continue coach McNealy's legacy and hope to establish a scholarship fund.
