A.S.A.P. Goals and Objectives
ASAP Goals and Objectives
Our immediate goal for the ASAP at Mission (Athletic Scholar Advancement Program) is to keep our at-risk, low-income athletic scholars off the streets of their neighborhoods during the summer. We accomplish this through summer experiences that includes residential programs on a college campus, internships, as well as leadership and scholastic opportunities for each qualified athlete. This leads to creating awareness that an academic future is possible. This opportunity combines scholarship, athletic competition and citizenship in a seamless partnership through athletic participation to enhance and promote academic achievement.
These programs are supported during the school year with: enhanced study halls and tutoring; mentor matching; college counseling including, SAT prep classes, college essay assistance and college application preparation; and continuing leadership development opportunities.
The immediate need is funds to provide programs and support up to 150 scholar-athletes at Mission High School. With the average cost of $1500.00 per student we need $225,000 for 2007.
The funds will be used for summer enrichment programs supporting athletic, scholastic, leadership and artistic endeavors.
